CGIL CONGRESS to commemorate 20 years of struggle for unity and the emancipation of workers, June 1944 - June 1964. The CGIL union was established with the signature of the Rome Pact on 9 June 1944, as a continuation of the General Confederation of Labor (CGdL) established in 1906 and dissolved during the twenty years of fascism. In 1948 and 1950, two of his internal splits first became the CISL and then the UIL. To honor the memory of Bruno Buozzi who was to be one of the founding signatories, but was killed by the Nazis, the date of June 3, 1944, which was believed to have been the last day of life of Buozzi, was affixed to the text of the Pact.
