PAPA STEFANO VII (? - 897), born in Rome, elected in 896. He ruled the Church for one year and two months. Because of the death of the second Stephen Pope, which took place in 752 before the consecration, not all sources take account of the latter in the numbering of the subsequent homonyms; for this reason the Pope elected in 896 is sometimes considered Pope Stephen VI. Chromolithographic postcard from the series dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by Him. Rome, October 1903.
