caption: PAPA GIOVANNI VI (655 - 11 January 705), born in Greece, elected in 701, subtracts the Exarch of Italy Teofilatto (traveling from Sicily to the headquarters of Ravenna, but perhaps sent by the emperor of Costantinopoli Tiberio III to arrest ) to the fury of the Byzantine militias loyal to the pope, he came from the Italian provinces to the aid of those towns. Demonstrating great diplomatic skills, John took him under his protection and Teofilatto him away from Rome, subsiding rebel militias and avoiding any fight against the population.
