Pope John II (470? -535), Aka Mercury Proietto, born in Rome, elected in 532. Presbytery of San Clemente (the early Church). It was the first Pope to change its name after the election, as that of a pagan deity appeared hardly appropriate to the task. Postcard chromolithographic n. 206 from the 'Collection of the Popes Romans' dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by Him. Rome, October 1903.
