POPE NICHOLAS II (approximately 980 - July 27, 1061), aka Gerard of Burgundy, born in France; elected at the beginning of 1059 to coincide with the antipope Benedict X, who was deposed and excommunicated his consecration, 12 April promulgated the Bull "In Domini" appointments, which was attributed elective capacity to only cardinal bishops, thus withdrawing the aristocracy control. He governed the Church for two years. Postcard chromolithographic n. 104 from the 'Collection of the Popes Romans' dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by Him. Rome, October 1903.
