His pontificate was distinguished by the severe austerity, for the extreme moral rigor and absolute honesty, as well as the absence of nepotistic behavior. He conferred on Charles of Anjou the investiture of the kingdom of Sicily. Chromolithographic postcard n. 76 from the 'Collection of the Roman Popes' dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by him.
