Christian THOMASIUS (Christian Thomas, 1 January 1655 - 23 September 1728), German jurist and philosopher. Son of the philosopher Jakob Thomasius, he was a precursor of the German Enlightenment; forced to leave Leipzig due to conflicts with the religious authorities, he took refuge at the electorate of Brandenburg who offered him protection in Halle, where he helped found the university in which he was a teacher and rector.
