San SABA Archimandrita (439 - December 5, 532), Byzantine monk. Born in Cappadocia as a wealthy family, as soon as he finished his 18-year-old studies, he decided to go to Palestine to vote for hermitage, as opposed to the father's will that would lead him to military life. After attending the anorectal deprivation of Eutimio, the Great in the deserted areas around the Dead Sea, he came near Bethlehem in the Cedron valley, where he founded the Laura then called 'Mar Saba'. Founder of many other monasteries, in 492 the Patriarch of Constantinople ordained him a priest, later named Archimandrita. Venerated by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, commemorating both December 5, the day of death (Dies Natalis, born to heaven). Colored Etching, Italy 1886
