St. MARCELLO and CASSIANO (? - 298), martyrs in Tangier under Diocletian. Marcello, Roman centurion, on July 21 during the celebration of the "Aussie Emperors" threw his arms in front of the entire militia, announcing the renunciation of military service in favor of the service in Christ's militia. On October 30, he was convicted by the prefect of the pretorio Aurelio Agricolano and condemned to death. Cassian, secretary of the prefect who was in charge of the interrogation for office reasons, outraged by the injustice of the verdict, protested vigorously, throwing the stylus and the tablets plainly, and earning the immediate death sentence he shared with his defendant. Commemoration on October 30, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth in the sky). Colored Etching, Italy 1886
