Saint GUIDO of Anderlecht (circa 950 - September 12, 1012) sacristan and pilgrim. Wanting to dedicate life to neighbor and prayer, he left the peasant family to serve the parish priest of Laken, near Brussels. With the intent of raising funds to help the poor, he went on trading, but the first ship he could armed sank with all the load; he interpreted the episode as a sign that the manipulation of money, however animated by philanthropic intentions, away from the choice of a spiritual life, and abandoned the poor business among the poor, became active announcer of the Gospel message, starting for a pilgrimage that took him to Rome and Jerusalem in seven years. For this long time, he did not know much, and on his return, ill, he was briefly a priest's guest shortly before dying without a stir. The repetition of miracles linked to his tomb brought the attention of the faithful to his humble figure, whom he finally recognized the due devotion. Patron saint of bracciante, belligerent, sacristan, coachman, bodyguard, and people with dysentery, is commemorated on September 12, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth in the sky). Colored Etching, Italy 1886
