St. PAFNUZIO of Tebe (III century - circa 356), known as Pafnuzio the Confessor, bishop in the Upper Tebaide at the beginning of the fourth century, one of the most important members of the first Council of Nicea in 325. Persecuted for his Christian faith immediately the condemnation of the mines, the loss of the lower left limb and the loss of the right eye under the emperor Galerio Massimo; according to historian Tirannio Rufino, the successor to Emperor Constantine esteemed the bishop altogether, and by meeting him he embraced and kissed on the empty orbit, giving honor to his sacrifice.
