Santa RADEGONDA (518 - August 13, 587) wife of the king of the Merovingian dynasty Clotario I and therefore Queen of the reign of Soissons. Daughter of King Turingi Bertary, Clotario reported her as a booty of war after defeating her father, then decided to make her second marriage to her queen wife. The unhappy marriage ended with the request of the pious woman to be able to take the vows, the condemned king and dismissed her, allowing her to enter as a deacon in the convent of Tours. Later, Clotario built for her the Notre-Dame Monastery in Poitiers, which was renamed Sainte-Croix when, in 569, the Basileus Giustino II gave Radegonda a fragment of the true cross. The saint engaged in the spread of Christianity among the subjects, and was the founder of churches and monasteries. Commemoration on August 13, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth in the sky).
