St. APOLLINARY in Ravenna Bishop and martyr (1st century - July 23 about 75). Originally from Syria's Antioch, traditionally a disciple of St. Peter, he is considered the founder of the Church of Ravenna, the city of which he was the first bishop and who was a patron saint. Commemorated in the liturgical calendar on July 20, the Roman Martirolio of 2001 reminds him of the passion on July 23, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth in the sky). Colored Etching, Italy 1886
