Santi CIRILLO (Constantine's century, about 825-869) and METHOD (about 815-885), Byzantine evangelizers of Slavic peoples, Pannonia and Moravia, inventors of the Glagolitic alphabet (commonly referred to as Cyrillic alphabet), who designed to translate into 'Ancient Slavonic ecclesiastical scriptures and other religious texts. In 867 they were summoned to Rome by the Pope, who examined and approved the Slavonic version of the Bible, provided that they were always accompanied by the reading of the corresponding Latin verses. They are revered as saints by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. The commemoration at the time of the press was celebrated on July 5, the Roman Martirolio of 2001 sets liturgical memory on February 14, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth to heaven) of St. Cyril.
