San STANISLAUS Krakow martyr (6 July 1030 - May 8, 1079), Polish Catholic bishop to head the diocese of Krakow from 1072 to the death; according to the hagiographic tradition was murdered by Boleslaus II of Poland in 1079, during the Mass in St. Michael, because he dared to excommunicate him after having chided the nefarious habits. Declared a saint and martyr by Pope Innocent IV in 1253, it celebrates the liturgical memorial on April 11, May 7 in the traditional calendar. Colored engraving, Italy 1886
