BERLIOZ Manifesto for the opera "The Damnation of Faust" dramatic legend in four parts and an epilogue by Hector Berlioz, composition for soloists, chorus and orchestra. The libretto was adapted by Berlioz and Almire Gandonnière from Gérard de Nerval's translation of the first part of Goethe's Faust. The first performance was in concert at the Opéra-Comique in Paris December 6, 1846.
