According to legend Bonifacio, intending to pay the pagan Roman Aglaida (or Aglaia or even Aglae), she was sent on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in order to understand the phenomenon of Christianity which was interested and bring the relics of the martyrs; arrived at Tarsus, in Cilicia (Anatolia), he found himself involved in a religious persecution, declared himself a Christian and in turn suffered martyrdom in 307 under Galerius and Diocletian in-law.
