Among his conspicuous literary production stand out his comedies of extraordinary success The fan of Lady Windermere 1892 An ideal husband 1895 and the famous The importance of being Constant 1895 . At the height of popularity he was involved in a trial and sentenced to two years in prison for homosexuality.
