HOLOCAUST a crematorium in the Mauthausen camp. The main camp was opened on August 8, 1938, and was placed under the command of Franz Ziereis until liberation took place on 5 May 1945. Like other concentration camps, Mauthausen was used as a concentration camp to be implemented through forced labor and malnutrition for intellectuals, people and members of different social classes of the countries that Nazi Germany occupied during World War II. In 1944 came a large number of Dutch and Hungarian Jews, many of whom died soon due to the hard work and poor living conditions, or even because they were forced to jump from the cliffs of the quarries.
