Mikhail BAKUNIN (30 May 1814, 18 May of the Julian calendar – 1 July 1876). The eldest son of an aristocratic family, in 1842 he moved to Berlin and frequented intellectual society, becoming friends with the writer Turgenev. In Paris, in 1844, he met Marx, Proudhon and George Sand. In 1847 he made a speech in favor of the Poles which led to his deportation to Belgium. Within a few months he returned to Paris, but immediately decided to return to help the Polish insurgents. In 1849 he rushed to support the insurrection that broke out in Dresden and ended up in prison, sentenced to capital punishment. In 1857, only thanks to the intervention of his high-ranking relatives was he able to commute his sentence. He escaped from prison in Siberia and returned to Europe, tried to participate in the Polish uprising of 1863 and later moved to Italy, where he contributed to the birth of the Italian workers\
