Lavoisier, chemical French member of the Academy of Sciences, enunciated the first version of the conservation law of the mass, recognized and christened oxygen (1778), hydrogen and nitrogen, made deepened studies on the combustion of gases, refuting the theory of the flogisto, and helped to reform the chemical nomenclature. Lavoisier often comes indicated like the father of modern chemistry.
