caption: Rome VICTORIAN: inauguration of the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, realized on plan of Giuseppe Sacconi. The intense activities of completion of the work continued for many years (the quadrigae of the Unit and of the Freedom, respective of the scultori Carlo Fontana and Paul Bartolini, 1924 and 1927 were placed on the propilei between, while the last intense activities finished in 1935). The Altar of the Native land was designed by the bresciano scultore Angelo Zanelli, that the competition in 1906 gained. Inside the Unknown Milite is tumulato: draft of remains disowned selected between those of the fallen of the First world war chosen own in representation of all the soldiers who could not have had a grave with their name. The remains came mail in the monument 4 November of 1921. The inauguration photographed here, took place to Rome, the 4 june 1911
