caption: Giuseppe GOVONE (19 November 1825 - 26 January 1872). Lieutenant and General, he participated in the war of 1848 - 49 and in the repression of the Genoese uprisings of 1849. Appointed general in 1860 he was placed in command of the division stationed in Palermo where he gave impetus to the fight against brigandage. He concluded the alliance between Italy and Prussia in 1866 in Berlin and was minister of war in the Lanza government from December 1869 to September 1870.
