caption: MUSIC Musical angels with rebec and lute. The rebec is the small-sized medieval bowed instrument with the highest sound. Equipped with two or three strings, it is made up of a small pear-shaped hardwood case which forms a single body with the neck, above which a fingerboard is applied. The soundboard is provided with two sound exit holes in the shape of a C or semicircle. The European rebec is derived from the Arabic rebab, introduced into Spain with the invasion of the Moors.
