caption: Ettore MAJORANA (5 August 1906 – disappeared 27 March 1938) Catanian physicist of international fame, student of E. Fermi, was professor of theoretical physics at the University of Naples (1937). He disappeared mysteriously in 1938 during a sea voyage from Palermo to Naples. His investigations in theoretical nuclear physics are very important: under his name, associated with that of W. Heisenberg, goes a theory of nuclear forces that explains the stability of the nucleus. Portrait in round with autograph, Italy 20th century.
