LUPPOLO Humulus lupulus, family of the Cannabacee. The luppolo it is a deciduous perennial herbaceous plant that can be developed until to reach a height of approximately seven meters and lives in the moderated regions. The luppolo it can be cultivated also in vase and also in house, but in these conditions very rarely it reaches the closing. The long and flexible stalks of the luppolo, empty internal, are outside covered by small thorns thanks to which they grab hold of to any support. These stalks that are wrapped to spiral, always turning in clockwise, allow with the plant to raise themselves from earth. The leaves of the luppolo, from the margins driven in dentati, are irregular, they anticipate in fact from three to five lobes, and are rough to the tact. The male flowers of luppolo and those feminine ones grow on distinguished plants, have yellowish green color and bloom at the height of summer. The most searched, as used from the industry of the beer, they are the feminine flowers that are hidden by a complex system of forming brattee the characteristic cone that returns the plant of the luppolo unmistakable. When the fruits are mature the brattee assume a cartacea consistency and they are lend to being used in the compositions of flowers dry or the ghirlande. The Luppolo grows in almost all the Italian peninsula; to the edges of the forests and on the siepi the plants of the luppolo are developed spontaneous that they love fertile lands and very worked.
