Pancho VILLA (5 June 1878 – 20 July 1923), also known as Francisco Villa, the nom de guerre of Mexican revolutionary general José Doroteo Arango Arámbula; the son of poor peasants, when the revolution broke out (1910) he sided with Francisco Madero and, upon his death (1913), fought against Victoriano Huerta and entered Mexico City triumphantly with Emiliano Zapata in 1914. Upon returning to the North, he was assassinated, perhaps on the orders of President Álvaro Obregón. Half-length portrait in uniform, February 1914.
