Ludwig UHLAND (26 April 1787 – 13 November 1862) German poet and writer, from 1829 university professor of German studies. In politics he sided with the liberals and was a member of the Landtag and of the Kingdom of Württenberg. He wrote Lieder (1815-17), set to music by F. Schubert, R. Schumann, F. Liszt and J.
