caption: ANTIFASCISM confinement of Istonio: Giuseppe Scalarini (1873 - 1948). His activity as a satirical cartoonist, socialist, led him to collect numerous convictions, especially for his staunch antimilitarism, which culminated, between 1926 and 1929, with confinement, first in Lampedusa and then in Ustica. He was arrested again in 1940, despite having devoted himself almost exclusively to illustrating children's books and lived under probation until the Liberation. Istonio (now Vasto CH), 1940.
