caption: Alfredo FRASSATI (September 28, 1868 – May 21, 1961), Italian publisher, journalist, and politician, with his two children Luciana and Pier Giorgio in his editorial office on Via Davide Bertolotti in Turin. A journalist and politician, he was editor of "La Stampa" at a young age and in 1895 became its co-owner and co-director, having partnered with L. Roux. Management of the newspaper passed entirely to him in 1900 when he became sole owner and, with an innovative spirit, he made it one of the leading Italian newspapers. Luciana (August 18, 1902 – October 7, 2007) married Polish diplomat Jan Gawronski in 1925; A poet and writer, she devoted much attention in her literary production to the figure of her brother Pier Giorgio (6 April 1901 – 4 July 1925), who was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1990 and is scheduled to be canonized among Turin's social saints on 7 September 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
