The volume is a composition of the real posed photos of the patriotic volunteers in ''carte de visite'', collected after the end of the enterprise in more than five years of research and inventoried in alphabetical order by the photographer Alessandro Pavia (12 September 1824 – 2 September 1889), author and creator of the project, who achieved the titanic goal of recovering approximately 850 subjects. Undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary documents of the Risorgimento and of the history of photography. Cover, Genoa 1867.
