caption: PISA Gioco del Ponte: Cavaliere. The Gioco del Ponte in Pisa is a centuries-old tradition that draws inspiration from one of the structural characteristics of the city: being divided into two parts by the Arno River. Teams from the Northern part called ''Tramontana'' fight against teams from the part called ''Mezzogiorno''. The teams' task is to push a cart, placed on two tracks, positioned halfway across the Ponte di Mezzo. The men from the two districts, competing in various challenges, try to push it as far as possible to the opposing side. Lithographic print, Pisa circa 1935.
