caption: MINERS group of five miners operate levers in the ancient lignite mine in Luni, called the Lunara, from which it was already extracted in Etruscan times. Lignite is a fossil coal with poor fuel characteristics, which fell into disuse after the Second World War (1950-60). The workers occupied this mine in an attempt to prevent its closure, which then occurred resulting in the dismissal of the workers.
