MOROCCO Abd el-Krim (1882 – 6 February 1963), Moroccan leader and revolutionary, head of the Ait Ouriaghel tribe, leader of the Arab partisans against Spanish and French colonialism. After resoundingly defeating the Spanish and proclaiming the Republic of the Rif in 1921, it had to surrender on May 26, 1926 to the combined forces of Spain and France.
