caption: STRIKE peasant unrest in the Alto Milanese area: strikers' rebellion in front of the Town Hall, the guards remain with their backs to the wall, squeezed between two fronts and line up with weapons against the labourers, including women and children, who advance with pitchforks and sticks ; some civilians remain on the ground in the scuffle. There were many municipalities affected by the strikes, including Magenta, Sedriano, Buscate, Castano, Turbigo and Robecchetto. Engraving, Italy 19 May 1889.
