caption: Pope Gregory X (1210 - 10 January 1276), born Tebaldo Visconti, born in Piacenza; elected in 1271 after more than a thousand days in office vacancy, at the end of an interminable election, in 1274 issued the "Ubi Periculum", the Apostolic Constitution for the regulation of the papal election (to be done in the conclave, with progressive restrictions for voters) , which, though initially controversial still is the base of the elective system of the Church. Personal contact with Marco Polo, his father Niccolò and uncle Matteo, took them through an exchange of correspondence with the Grand Khan, and sent the missionaries in Tartary. Postcard chromolithographic n. 75 from the 'Collection of the Popes Romans' dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by Him. Rome, October 1903.
