caption: MANZONI The monument dedicated to Alessandro Manzoni (7 March 1785 – 22 May 1873) decorated with the tricolor crown composed of white roses, red roses and green anthurium, placed by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella in the celebrations of 22 May 2023 for the 150th anniversary of death of the writer. The embalmed body of Manzoni was buried in the Famedio of the Monumental Cemetery in 1883, celebrating at the time the tenth anniversary of his death, and the solemn ceremony started the burial of the illustrious characters in this place of worship of art, culture and of history. The central position was established in 1958, with the placement on the base decorated with bronze bas-reliefs by Giannino Castiglioni (May 4, 1884 - August 27, 1971).
