Depiction of the martyr with the ostrich feather, the tower with three windows and the father at her feet, punished for his impiety and symbol of defeated paganism, in the mountain landscape which sees the Simplon railway tunnel next to the parallel road and the church dedicated to her in the workers' village of Balmalonesca (fraction of Trasquera VB), which arose spontaneously to accommodate the ''trafurett'', the workers who came from all over Italy for the construction of the tunnel and was abandoned after the inauguration, then disappeared definitively, overwhelmed by the Diveria flood of 1919. Patron saint of miners, artillerymen and those who live in danger of sudden death, she was the daughter of a powerful pagan; she was locked up by her father in a tower to preserve her beauty, or according to other versions when her parent discovered her conversion to Christianity. Having refused to recant even before a magistrate, she was subjected to various tortures, the consequences of which Jesus himself healed her at night. Finally she was beheaded by her father together with Giuliana, another young Christian, on the top of a mountain, but as soon as he descended into the valley the murderer was struck by lightning, or incinerated by a celestial fire.
