caption: Maurice BLANCHOT ( September 22, 1907 - February 20, 2003) French writer, social and literary critic. Politically involved, he immediately opposed through his writings the deportations of Jews carried out by Nazism. He had a long friendship with Georges Bataille, collaborated as well as with numerous exponents of French literature and philosophy with Elio Vittorini, Italo Calvino and Pierpaolo Pasolini.
