Published in installments starting from 1817 until the curator's death, it was financed by an original associative system: the clients, carefully selected, undertook to purchase each issue, the proceeds of which financed the production of the following issue; only in this way was Gallesio able to bear the costs of the very high artistic level of quality prefixed for the work.
