In the illustration a colonial soldier, son of a member of the group that in 1896, under the command of Major Giuseppe Galliano, had strenuously defended the fort of Enda Jesus in the siege of Macallè, then leaving it to the enemy following a diplomatic agreement, redeems his father's defeat and is the first to enter the fort, which was reconquered by the Italians in the battle of 8 November 1935.
