caption: PREHISTORY "The Upper Cretaceous". In the typical landscape of the upper Cretaceous period, also known as the Middle Ages of the earth, we see the first appearance of flowering plants. The large tree on the left is the Breadfruit (Artocarpo), in the background sequoias and giant conifers, and on the right species of Acero, Negondo and Bignonia. The animal kingdom is populated by impressive herbivorous reptiles including the Triceratops, with three horns, and the Tracodonts very similar to the Plateosaurs.
