caption: SAINT NICHOLAS of Tolentino (1245 – 10 September 1305), born Nicola di Compagnone. ''The Wonderworker of Tolentino'': according to tradition, his statue was carried in procession to Cordova in 1602 during the plague. When he met the Crucifix, he knelt before it, which tenderly embraced him, and when the people took the bread blessed by the Saint, the plague ceased. Engraving by Giuseppe Mochetti (active 1806 - 1848 approximately), Italy 1848.
