caption: SAN GAETANO Thiene (October 1480 - 7 August 1547), Italian presbyter, with the infant Jesus and a lily; the iconography often sees him represented with the Bambinello in reference to an episode in which, being in the Christmas period at the Altar of the Nativity, he was kidnapped in ecstasy and witnessed the miraculous birth of the Virgin. Founder of the Order of Theatine Regular Clerics, for his loving charity in assisting the needy and the Incurable he is called the Saint of Divine Providence; canonized on 12 April 1671 by Pope Clement X, he is commemorated on 7 August, the day of his death (Dies Natalis, birth into heaven).
