Dante and Virgil (15 October 70 BC – 21 September 19 BC) in front of Lucifer, immersed in Cocytus frozen up to his chest. In the illustration, on the left the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri (14 May/13 June 1265 – night between 13 and 14 September 1321) at his desk and on the right the scene described, all enclosed in an allegorical frame representing Paradise, Purgatory and Hell.
