caption: HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY photographic reproduction of a male portrait in daguerrotipo realized by the Swiss engraver and daguerrotipista Johann Baptist Isenring (12 May 1796 - 9 April 1860). The author completed the daguerrotipo with a manual coloring that applied in register of the metal plate, on a very thin glass plate. In this photograph the only daguerrotype slab with its frame is reproduced (see also: FSNgilardi_74016.jpg and FSNgilardi_74017.jpg). Switzerland, St. Gallen, circa 1860.
