Cecil John RHODES (5 July 1853 - 26 March 1902) British entrepreneur and politician, emigrated young in Natal and discovered vast diamond deposits. He promoted British colonial expansion in South Africa and prepared the fight against the Boers. Prime Minister of the Cape Colony from 1890 to 1896, the British colony of Rhodesia was named after him, in the territory that today is in the northern part of Zambia and the southern part of Zimbabwe.
