Santi FAUSTINO and GIOVITA (? - 120/134), nobles from Brescia of the pagan family, undertook a military career and became knights; converted to Christianity by Bishop Apollonio, they became skilled evangelizers and suffered martyrdom under Hadrian for not wanting to sacrifice to the gods. After the arrest they suffered all manner of torture for a long time; since their miraculous survival was the cause of countless conversions, they were transferred first to Milan, then to Rome and Naples, to finally return to Brescia where they were beheaded. Venerated as saints by the Catholic Church, they are patrons of the city and of the Diocese of Brescia, as well as some countries in the provinces of Brescia, Bergamo and Parma. Commemoration on February 15, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth to heaven). Colored engraving, Italy first half of the nineteenth century
