FLAVIO EZIO (390 circa - 21 September 454) Roman general, several times consul and minister under Valentinian III. Flavio Aezio, as he is called by contemporary historiography, is famous for his victory over Attila near the Catalaunic Fields, where the Romans inflicted a heavy defeat on the army of the Huns. His life is inspired by the character of Ezio, a baritone co-star of the opera "Attila" by Giuseppe Verdi on a libretto by Temistocle Solera, based on the homonymous tragedy by Zacharias Werner.
