caption: RIOMAGGIORE seen from the sea, one of the villages of the so-called Cinque Terre, located between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that separates from the Apennines near Mount Zatta. The historic center, whose original nucleus dates back to the 13th century, is located in the Rio Maggiore torrent valley, the ancient Rivus Major from which the village takes its name. On the right is the "Via dell'Amore" traveled by tourists, the characteristic pedestrian promenade carved into the rock that is part of the Blue Path; in the small bay protected by the breakwater barrier, still tourists at the Marina and two small boats.
